Developing Research through the Journal Club


Journal Club is one of the classic methods of medical education with a history of more than 100 years. Nowadays, owing to flexibility and compatibility of this method to many educational objectives, it can be employed in areas ranging from education, critical evaluation, evidence-based medicine and research design, statistics for residents, as well as educational concepts. The key factors for the Journal Club’s success are: setting specific goals, holding regular sessions, maintaining constant and effective attendance by the participants, and selecting a proper method for holding the sessions.


1. To develop research in education via discussion and analysis of educational scientific papers;

2.To improve scientific paper presentation and learning skills;

3.To introduce the information of recent scientific papers on medical education;

4. To teach critical thinking, encourage conducting clinical measures as per evidence-based medicine, and teach research design;

5.To instruct the faculty members on the concepts of education;
