Educational Evaluation

Assessment and evaluation is one of the main components of any given educational process. The evaluation process aims at the improvement of the quality and enhancement of the efficacy of a program, and a vital aspect in the process of educational activities, which specifies the strengths and weaknesses, and having reinforced the strengths and obviated the weaknesses, allows for proper steps to be taken towards evolution and correction of workflows.

Role of evaluation in order to improve higher education system is not hidden to anyone. Education Quality Evaluation System provides a tool for universities to revise their actions, understand their weaknesses and strengthens and select the best options for their correction.

While introducing appropriate methods and procedures for student, professor, and program assessment, the evaluation experts of the EDC involve in the design and implementation of program assessment as well as the development and validation of examinations, diagnostic assessments, and information.

Due to the importance of evaluation unit in EDC as a main component, the most critical duty of this unit is to provide an evaluation and Meta-evaluation methods regarding to Instructors’, Educational Groups and Research Institutes responsibilities.

Another important duty of this unit is to improve negative concepts existing among individual about what evaluation is and provide a new context in order to evaluate an educational system as it should be.

  •  Guiding evaluation systems in the faculty level by editing systematic evaluation programs in the educational courses, students and the faculty members
  • Providing counseling for a constant evaluation system in faculties such as evaluation of the programs, courses, students and the faculty members
  •  Developing new student evaluation systems, program evaluation, course evaluation and providing counseling services for the lecturers and the educational departments on these matters
  • Leading and guiding the atomization and digitization of data collecting and analyzing the required data in the evaluation process
  •  Counseling services and supporting research in the field of evaluation
  • Doing studies in order to amend and edit evaluation forms of students, head of the department, colleagues and also self-evaluation forms
  •  Providing professional counseling services in the field of evaluation to the clients both from inside and outside the university
  •  Monitoring the practical plan of the evaluation unit
  •  Coordination and managing the self-evaluation of different units of the center
    •  establish the Committee for Educational Supervision and Evaluation;
    •  build the culture of evaluation and supervision;
    •  improve the methods of educational evaluation, adopting a process-oriented viewpoint;
    •  improve the implementation of evaluation, adopting a process-oriented viewpoint;
    •  improve educational achievement evaluation methods;


    Activities:

    -To form basic sciences and clinical evaluation committees, comprising of interested faculty members at each department;

    -To prepare teaching quality reports concerning professors, as well as, the departments across different areas in charts;

    -To evaluate the held workshops at the EDC;

    - To guide, implement, and supervise students’ assessment of the professors, the Head of the Department, and peers, as well as, self-evaluation in each semester, and clinical evaluation by trainees and interns every month, and residency students every six months, via the web;

    - To implement, execute, supervise, and retrieve reports from the evaluation system;

    - To develop a database containing the faculty evaluation results and to keep it current;

    -To collaborate with the Scholarship Office for presenting the education quality scores pertaining to professors applying to sabbaticals;

    -To be accountable to the students and professors for the problems while taking the evaluation, especially in case of forgetting the password or the like;

    - To carry out student evaluations of the faculty during the semester;

    - To enable the faculty members to revise the evaluation forms and to send them to the deputy directors of schools for final corrections and follow-up;

    -To notify the evaluation scores for the selection of ‘the top professor’;

    -To provide the feedback for teaching quality results from basic sciences and clinical courses, course assessment, and instructor performance summary across all semesters at the personal evaluation panel of each and every faculty member;

    - To pursue claims and criticisms of the professors concerning evaluation scores and to provide feedback;

Internal Evaluation

Considering the importance of internal evaluation of the clinical departments shouldering the education of residency students and the emphasis of the Ministry of Health, the Internal Evaluation Office was put to the task, joining forces with the clinical education departments. Evaluation is a way to ensure the enhancement of medical education. Evaluation can be handled by the instructors and learners themselves, also known as internal evaluation. Internal evaluation is conducted aiming at the identification and analysis of the current status of education, discovery of strength and weaknesses of departments, and the attempt towards eliminating weaknesses and enhancement of the quality of educational and medical services offered by the faculty members. An effective internal evaluation must be carried out periodically and regularly.
