Educational Planning


 

Educational plans are the most important components of each country universities. Instructors’ ability to teach educational content properly to students is largely affected by how much they know about educational planning. Therefore considering educational planning and instructors as a part of that is so important.

In order to have effective learning and fulfill educational goals, getting acquainted to educational planning process is necessary for all instructors. So due to the importance of educational planning and its notable role in education, researches about its efficacy in instruction, evaluation and eventually students’ learning must be done.

 

As the first and foremost task of any given educational center is educational development and curriculum improvement to match the social needs and be compatible with the tasks undertaken by the learners in the future, the Education Development Center, via the Educational Planning Committee, specifically deals with the boosting of curriculum planning skills and improving the teaching materials, learning materials, assessment of student learning, and efficiency of education.

Planning is a disciplined and systematic method for directing human efforts towards specific goals. Curriculum and educational planning is a complex combination of educational objectives, the content of the course, educational strategies, learning outcomes, educational experiences, educational environment assessment, methods of learning, schedule, agenda, action plan, and the like, requiring practical capabilities, creativity, research and investigation, as well as time and attention. Also, to reveal possible defects, conducting pilot studies and examining the results is essential.

While revising and optimizing the existing programs, designing new programs and studying the results of implemented, presented, and modified programs, we, particularly, seek to strengthen curriculum planning skills, to better educational strategies, and to promote educational processes and the quality of teaching and learning materials.

Objectives:

1. To improve curricula;

2.To match curricula with social needs;

3. To match curricula with future duties of students;

4. To make the instructors’ educational plans, purposeful;

5. To make optimal use of time and facilities for a quality education;

6.To pursue the executive aspects of educational plans of professors;

7.To boost educational plans and up-to-date resources through revision;

Specific Objectives:

1.To build a proper culture in appropriate curriculum planning, updating of these plans, and implementing the plan dimensions in practice;

2.To determine the pros and cons of plans and, if required, to correct them with the assistance of the faculty members;

3.To plan towards empowering professors on using diverse evidence-based teaching procedures;

4.To improve the methods of involving students in learning activities through lesson plans;

5.To incite the interaction of learners and professors through lesson plan forums;

6. To pay attention to the educational activities of professors across all areas (theory, practical, and clinical classes, among others);

7.To provide appropriate expert and consultative feedback to professors, aiming at the improvement and boost of the teaching and learning process;

8.To ensure continual improvement of educational quality by applying proper modifications to the manner of teaching of professors, according to the lesson plan evaluation results, through self-evaluation, by students, trainees, interns, and superiors (head of the department);

9. To prepare the required documentation for the encouragement of successful educational programs, and academic rank promotion of the faculty members;

Activities:

-   To navigate educational programs in strategic, tactical, and operational levels;

- To review previous programs and optimize the current ones;

-To employ the capabilities and collaboration of departments and opinions of players of educational processes (instructors, students, etc) concerning the revision of previous programs and the necessary modifications;

-To develop a new educational program, proportional to the needs assessment and scientific necessity (e.g. Skill Lab in basic and specialized levels);

-To examine educational program standards for different medical fields of study, whether national and international;

- To compare the existing programs with national educational standards;

-To guide the design and implementation of educational programs from traditional status to modern programs;

-To create the groundwork for modification in program design (from unidisciplinary to multidisciplinary);

-To pursue the continual presentation and development, implementation and promotion of course plans (presentation of lesson plans of professors across all majors and departments) via educational deputy directors and Education Development Offices (EDOs) in schools and teaching hospitals, and lesson plans through professor monitoring software;

-To supervise the implementation of educational programs and the evaluation thereof (via educational deputy directors and EDOs in schools and teaching hospitals);

-To coordinate and pursue the continual presentation and development, implementation and promotion of clinical lesson plans and log book for different clinical education departments;

- To evaluate educational programs and offer corrective feedback;

-To hold lesson plan training and lesson plan evaluation workshops for professors;

-To evaluate the professors’ lesson plans via lesson plan website and provide feedback through email;

-To guide and counsel the faculty members on how to present lesson plans via the website;

-To review lesson plan sheets;

-To develop the software for uploading the faculty’s electronic lesson plans on the monitoring and performance evaluation website;

- To study the presented lesson plans by the faculty members and provide feedback;

- To plan educational workshops on the modern educational methods and techniques;
